Join a thriving commercial construction team where your estimating expertise, industry relationships, and leadership abilities directly influence project success and company growth. This is a full-time, in-office leadership position responsible for commercial paint and wallcovering estimating, business development support, bid management, and backlog growth.

The ideal candidate will maintain personal estimating production while helping drive process improvements, strengthen industry partnerships, and support the future growth of the estimating department.

Note: This is a full-time, in-office position. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.


Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial painting and wallcovering projects.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, scope reviews, and proposal preparation.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contract documents, and bid requirements.
  • Coordinate pricing and scope information with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Identify scope gaps, project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, and industry partners.
  • Conduct proactive bid follow-up and manage sales pipeline activities.
  • Pursue negotiated opportunities and contribute to strategic backlog growth.
  • Represent the organization professionally throughout the preconstruction and bidding process.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with operations and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoff and turnover.
  • Support the development and implementation of estimating standards, systems, and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to future estimating team members.
  • Contribute to departmental growth through leadership, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and results-driven office environment.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of commercial Division 9 estimating experience preferred.
  • Proven experience estimating commercial interior and exterior painting projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial paint systems, coatings, and wallcovering applications.
  • Experience working with commercial general contractors in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Commercial plan-and-spec estimating experience.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze plans, specifications, and project requirements with a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, OST, or comparable estimating software preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Leadership Attributes

  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development experience.
  • Wallcovering estimating experience preferred, or the ability and willingness to develop expertise in that discipline.
  • Commitment to being an engaged, hands-on, in-office leader.
  • Valid driver's license.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 annually (based on experience)
